HIAT

Since 1968, overseas educational cruises utilizing Tokai University's research and training vessel, the "Bosei Maru," have involved students selected from the three Tokai universities and three junior colleges. To date, over 2,700 students have participated in these 40-day long programs, participating in ocean training and exchanges with universities at ports of call where they also experienced the diversity of cultures, governments, and economies, thus developing a larger world view and international perspective. In addition, community life within the limited s pace available on the ship promoted the growth in cooperative and courteous behavior between instructors and students, and new and deeper friendships based on shared experiences. The ocean voyage is an invaluable experience for students providing experiences that prepare them for life in a global society as well as reminding them of the coexistence between the environment and mankind.
