Hokkaido Tokai University has the School of International Cultural
Relations, the School of Engineering, and the Graduate School of
Science and Engineering (Master's Program) in the Sapporo Campus and
the School of Art and Technology and the Graduate School of Arts
(Master's Program) in the Asahikawa Campus. The School of International
Cultural Relations aims to cultivate talented people who can cope well
with international society, the School of Engineering to apply modern
science and technology to advanced fields, and the School of Art and
Technology to create living environments characterized by harmonious
functions and creative beauty. Each School adopts new education system
to meet the needs of the times, such as an education system by a small
group of students with emphasis on experiments and practical training,
introduction of a semester system, preparation of a syllabus, and a
self-check and evaluation system. In 2003, the School of Art and
Technology provided 4 courses with emphases on "the Department of
Living Design" to meet the needs of human life so that students can
learn design and architecture more closely related to real life.
The School of Engineering consists of the Department of Information
Science, the Department of Marine Science and Technology, and the
Department of Bioscience and Technology. In 2004, the School of
International Cultural Relations was reorganized into the Department of
Regional Creation and the Department of Communications, which provide a
total of 8 courses characterized by their internationalism and
diversity.
